Private tutoring. Designed by an SLP, delivered close to home.
Targeted academic support for kids with language delays, built on the same family-centered approach we use in the clinic.
Many parents are concerned with school when their child is first enrolled in speech therapy. Speech-language pathologists have a unique understanding of how language affects academics. The tutors at UpWords Speech are trained by licensed SLPs to provide additional support to school-age students with language delays.
An SLP-built plan, where it's convenient for you.
You receive a specialized tutoring plan from a licensed speech-language pathologist, and your trained tutor delivers services at your most convenient public library location. Same SLP-grade strategy your child gets in therapy, meeting them in a familiar, comfortable space.
What tutoring covers
Tutors target reading comprehension, written expression, vocabulary, and the underlying language skills that show up in classroom assignments. The same areas a speech-language evaluation flags as a child's growing edges.
Who it's for
Best suited for school-age students whose language delays are starting to affect schoolwork, whether or not they're currently enrolled in speech therapy at UpWords. We're happy to coordinate with your child's existing IEP team if helpful.
Getting started
